Our operations team is comprised of managers from across different areas of the business, each with the depth of experience and expertise to ensure that SI achieves its common goal of providing hospitals around the world with high quality, cost-effective medical devices designed and manufactured in the UK.  

 

Chris HarrisonName: Chris Harrison
Job title: Technical Manager

 

Q: Areas you are responsible for?

Chris:

  • Technical design management
  • Ideas development / critique / problem solving / review
  • Design project management / risk management
  • Technical product support for internal customers – marketing / business development / purchasing / production
  • CAD modelling and DWGs – creation and review
  • Technical documentation – creation and maintenance
  • Industrial product solutions
  • Pro-E CAD system administration 

Q: What is the most challenging part of your role?

Chris: Coordinating all aspects of product development to hit tight delivery deadlines.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

Chris: Meeting surgeons and customers to gain ideas and feedback on our products. I also enjoy liaison with supply chain companies to develop new designs and manufacturing methods. There is a real buzz about delivering new products to the market.

For me personally, a variety of work is important and at SI, no two days are the same.

Q: What are your hobbies outside work?

Chris: I play bass in a band and music has always been a hobby of mine. I enjoy tinkering with vintage VW Camper vans. Other hobbies include snowboarding and football - both 5 a-side and supporting Newcastle United.

 

 

Giles Profitt

Name: Giles Proffitt
Job title: Head of Business Development

 

Q: Areas you are responsible for?

Giles: To develop new revenue lines outside of laparoscopy. Identify, evaluate and implement new product and business opportunities for SI technologies and capabilities in surgical fields.

Q: What is the most challenging part of your role?

Giles: Finding the right people and partners that fit with the business, and making sure we pick the winning products.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

Q: What are your hobbies outside work?

Giles: More and more occasional golf, cricket, cycling and enjoying the Peaks. Most of all Greco-Roman wrestling with my kids!

 

 

 

Jennie Jones

Name: Jennie Jones

Job title: Human Resources Manager

Q: What is the most challenging part of your role?

Jennie: Prioritising and juggling all the different tasks involved in my role.

Q:  What do you enjoy most about your job?

Jennie: Working with and meeting lots of people. I enjoy that every day is different with lots of variety of tasks and projects.

Q: What are your hobbies outside work?

Jennie: I enjoy going to the theatre, spending time with my children and visiting friends and relatives around the UK.

 

 

Julia PriceName: Julia Price

Job title: PR Manager

 

Q: Areas you are responsible for?

Julia: Communicating Surgical Innovations’ key messages to all of our many audience groups both internally and externally. This includes:

  • Employees
  • Distributors
  • OEM partners
  • Investors
  • Surgeons
  • Patients
  • Media
  • Regional partners

Q: What is the most challenging part of your role?

Julia: Ensuring that each and every one of the audience groups is communicated to effectively at all times. This involves juggling lots of balls at any one time!

Q:  What do you enjoy most about your job?

Julia: In any one day I could be arranging an event, writing a website story, dealing with a media enquiry or offering marketing support to distributors. It is this variety that I enjoy. Having been in the role nearly a year, it has been important to introduce effective processes to best communicate to SI audiences such as the development of this website.

Q: What are your hobbies outside work?

Julia: Spending time with my family especially playing with my 19-month-old daughter, helping to run the local playgroup and catching up with the girls.
